MNWB responds to the collision of two cargo ships in Germany

Following the news that one person has died and four others are missing after two cargo ships collided off Germany’s North Sea coast, the Merchant Navy Welfare Board (MNWB) has issued this statement.

Stuart Rivers, Chief Executive of MNWB which is the umbrella charity for the UK Merchant Navy and Fishing Fleets based in Southampton, said:

“We are deeply sorry to hear of this tragedy in Germany.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the seafarers and the families at this difficult time and to those involved in the extensive rescue search. The MNWB is ready to support its colleagues at the German Seamen’s Mission, who have a presence both in the UK and Germany, to provide practical and pastoral support to those affected by this crisis.”
