ISPS Awareness Course

Course Outline Register

This is a course aimed at those staff and volunteers from Constituent Member Charities such as Port Chaplains that visit seafarers in port.

Course Aim

The course aim is to give ship visitors and other seafarers’ welfare personnel an awareness and understanding of the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (IPSP) and the ability to interpret it.

Course Objectives

Understanding the International Ship and Port Facility Code, why it came into force and what it intended to achieve. Other objectives include knowing the rights of the seafarer to shore leave and welfare facilities and the rights and responsibilities of port facilities and seafarers’ welfare organisations.

Course Logistics

This is a half day course which can be held at a regional venue or MNWB’s head office. Please contact training@mnwb.org.uk if you would like to host this course in your workplace.

Course Funding

  • The Board will cover all course fees
  • Reasonable travel costs will be reimbursed if applicable
