Gambling harms can affect anyone, tearing apart families, straining finances, and taking a devastating toll on mental health. Yet with greater awareness and understanding, we can help reduce the impact on individuals, families, and communities.
We are pleased to invite you to a Level 1: Gambling Harms Awareness Training – Building Confidence to Respond and Support session delivered by Betknowmore UK, a leading provider of gambling support and training services since 2013.
Date: 8 September 2026
Duration: 10.00 am to 11.30 (90 minutes)
Format: Online via Microsoft Teams
This session is suitable for anyone who would like to better understand gambling harms and learn how to support colleagues, friends, family members, or those within the wider maritime community.
Since 2024, Betknowmore UK has proudly supported both the Armed Forces and Seafaring Community, helping to increase understanding of gambling harms and improve access to support. Their mission is to address gambling-related harm in communities across the UK through education, awareness, and support.
This interactive training session moves beyond awareness to develop practical skills and confidence. Participants will learn how to:
- Understand the risks and harms associated with gambling and how serious they can be
- Recognise potential signs of gambling-related harm
- Respond appropriately when someone discloses concerns about gambling
- Identify the role of the gambling industry and the addictive nature of some gambling products
- Deliver brief advice and early intervention
- Utilise referral and support pathways
- Address stigma and prejudice while building empathy
- Explore the impact of gambling harms on seafaring and veteran communities
The session encourages discussion and reflection, helping to reduce stigma while equipping attendees with practical tools they can apply immediately in both their professional and personal lives.
We encourage all members to attend and take advantage of this valuable opportunity to learn more about an often-hidden issue that can have far-reaching consequences.
