New Port Welfare Research Project launched by MNWB

The Merchant Navy Welfare Board (MNWB) has launched a research project to develop a better understanding of the welfare provision available to seafarers and fishers across UK ports.

As part of the MNWB’s role as the National Seafarers’ Welfare Board, we have been asked by the Department for Transport to carry out this pivotal research to provide an unbiased, factual report to help make informed decisions on current and future seafarers’ welfare provision. It will also help to ascertain if gaps in provision exist and provide recommendations on how these gaps can be addressed.

The MNWB will be asking the major providers of front-line seafarers’ welfare and, every port in the UK, to complete a survey which will help enable us to carry out this important research.

Findings will be released by the end of the year.
