Today is Merchant Navy Day, and with it comes the announcement of this year’s Merchant Navy Medal recipients.
The Merchant Navy Medal is a prestigious award within the British honours system. It recognises individuals from the Merchant Navy and fishing fleets of the UK, Isle of Man and Channel Islands who have demonstrated outstanding service and commitment throughout their careers.
The medal is presented annually by HRH The Princess Royal and celebrates those who have made an exceptional contribution to the maritime sector.
Stuart Rivers, Chief Executive of the MNWB, said:
“Congratulations to this year’s recipients of the Merchant Navy Medal. Each year we see the very best of the UK’s maritime community recognised for their service. This year is no different as we celebrate eleven recipients of the Medal who have gone above and beyond the call of duty.
