Supporting the provision of quality welfare for seafarers and their dependants

Safer Waves Helping To Provide Seafarers With Support

Posted on 2nd July 2021

Safer Waves was set up in 2019 to provide support to merchant seafarers who have experienced sexual assault, sexual harassment, or gender discrimination on board.

They are a registered charity who aim to create a safe space, provide information and signpost to other suitable welfare charities globally and locally. They are working with seafarers, employers, and organisations to build a network of support.

Safer Waves now have a confidential email support service up and running for seafarers that have experienced sexual violence or gender discrimination. Their volunteers have received all relevant training to help respond to seafarers who reach out to them.
