Seafarer Support Site Relaunched To Make Searching For Help Easy

Our new bespoke Seafarer Support website is now live!  The latest software has AI search facilities to signpost users to the most up-to-date information on the charities best suited to help. The system also has a live chatbot facility to enable users to communicate directly with our welfare team.

Visitors to the site can now choose between searching through the Merchant Navy, Royal Navy and Fishing Fleet categories.

Each of these categories offers visitors an easy way to look through each section:

·         Financial assistance

·         Support (bereavement, social, spiritual etc.)

·         Accommodation, health and medical

·         Advice (helplines, employment, pensions etc.)

·         General information about contacting the Seafarer Support helpline service

“The Seafarer Support service continues to provide a valuable and unique single point of contact primarily online referral service for people seeking help from the UK maritime charity sector”, said Helen Van Gass, Welfare and Training Manager, MNWB. She went on to say, “The innovative website helps online users seeking assistance search and directly contact one or more of over 150 maritime charities that offer a plethora of welfare services.”

For those who prefer to speak to someone, or who seek further information that is not available online, Seafarer Support has a freephone helpline (0800 121 4675). Trained staff are available during office hours to help direct them to charities or organisations which are best suited to help.
