The Board’s Chairman Capt. Andrew Cassels attended both the official opening of Queen Victoria Seamen’s Rest (QVSR) ‘Roe Wing’ and their Christmas Carol Service.
QVSR’s new wing was named after their first Chief Executive, Revd. David Roe as a fitting tribute of combining both the charity’s history with the modernisation of QVSR. Roe Wing rooms are all on suite and aim at respecting residents privacy.
The new wing was opened by Speaker of Tower Hamlet’s Council and Chairman, Terry Simco, MBE MNM on Tuesday 10th December.
Chairman Capt. Andrew Cassels stated it was a pleasure to attend the opening of the Roe Wing at QVSR and witness the latest step in the journey of modernising this unique facility in the east end of London whose history of providing accommodation for seamen stretches back 176 years.
Following the Roe Wing official opening the QVSR Christmas Carol service went into full swing.
The carol service was held in QVSR’s Emery Hall, and was a lovely way to finish the evening.
