SOUTHERN PORT WELFARE COMMITTEE

Opening of the new seafarer centre in FawleyThe Southern Port Welfare Committee (PWC) meets three times a year at a number of maritime venues across the southern region including the Southampton Seafarers' Centre, Warsash Maritime Academy, ABP Southampton and more recently Carnival House. The Committee consider seafarers' welfare issues at a local, national and international level.  Topics can range from port welfare facilities in the southern region to the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC) 2006.  The committee also considers grant applications to the MNWB and the MCFGs grants programmes with comments and recommendations passed on to the relevant grant making charity.
