Objectives / History Founded in 1846 as the Seamen's and Soldiers' Evangelical Society, the Society changed to its present title two years later. The SCFS took over the work of the Merchant Navy Christian Fellowship (MNCF) in 1989.

The SCFS is concerned for the spiritual, physical and emotional welfare of seafarers of all nationalities who visit the ports covered by SCFS personnel, including UK, Ireland, Western Europe, Ghana and Philippines.
