Objectives / History

Established in 1865 and incorported by Royal Charter with HRH the Princess Royal as Patron, the main object of the Society is to provide homes or housing for the care of aged, infirm or disabled seafarers. Spouses, dependents and widows also qualify for admission.

The Royal Alfred Seafarers' Society’s home is set amongst 14 acres of lovely Surrey countryside, near Banstead. It provides an extensive range of high quality Residential, Nursing and Dementia Care and Sheltered Housing. The home consists of: -

Belvedere House. A modern 2 storey Nursing and Residential Care Home set in large, landscaped gardens, providing 68 single rooms each with en-suite facilities. There are ample assisted bath and shower rooms with appropriate aids for those who need them. The rooms are fully furnished, bright and cheerfully decorated. Residents may bring their own items of furniture subject to the Manager's agreement and consideration of space.

Weston Acres House. This is a grade II listed building (1906), substantially renovated and provides well-appointed bed-sitting rooms (together with en-suite shower/toilet, and kitchenette facility).
