The charity provides housing accommodation for retired seafarers and their beneficiaries. The charity provides the financial relief of beneficiaries who are in need, hardship or distress (widows and children of seafarers, retired and/or ill and disabled seafarers). 

The charities accomodation consists of 142 Almshouses' in total. Admissions are limited to retired fishermen and their wives, widows or retired fishermen all ranks are accepted
