MANAGING AGGRESSION AND VIOLENCE COURSE

Course Provider: Shelter Training

Course Outline

This is a one day course designed to provide training and advice on how to handle people who may become aggressive and violent in their behaviour either in an open forum or on a one to one basis.  It is particularly useful for those staff that work in seafarers' centres and residential homes.

Course Aim

The aim of the course is to enable delegates to develop the skills and processes necessary to manage and diffuse highly charged and difficult situations.

Course Objectives

  • What contributes to the build-up of a difficult incident
  • The triggers of aggression
  • Preventative and calming techniques
  • Risk assessment of violence and aggression in the workplace
  • Health and safety responsibilities of employers and employees
  • Communication and calming strategies

Course Logistics

This is a one day course organised usually within seafarers' centres and residential homes.

Course Funding

  • The Board will cover all course fees
  • The Board will not cover any travel or accommodation expenses
