UK SHIP WELFARE VISITOR COURSE (SWVC)

This is a two-day course aimed at all employees and volunteers of Constituent Member nautical charities involved with visiting seafarers on board ships and in a port environment.  This is as equally valuable to port chaplains as it is to a volunteer driving the minibus.  The course includes basic health & safety, understanding ship board/port management and organisation, ship routines and protocol, potential seafarers’ issues and seafarers’ backgrounds.  This course is mandatory for all those working for one of the recognised seafarer’s welfare organisations.   The ID card, which is issued on completion of the course, is valid for 5 years.
